Manitoulin Island & Dark Sky Preserve Camping
Camping in the Main Park
Camping takes place on large private wooded sites, each with a picnic table, campfire pit & parking for one vehicle. Eco-friendly showers, comfort station and access to the summer kitchen and dish-washing station is included in your stay and are located near the main building. We are 13 minutes from the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry Dock in South Baymouth.
These camp sites are visible to Hwy 6, great for late night arrivals and easy access for large RVs or trailers. They include the same amenities (ecoshowers, comfort station, summer kitchen, etc.) as the regular sites and offer 30 amp shared electrical hook ups.
RASC (Royal Astronomical Society of Canada) Designated Dark Sky Preserve Camp Sites
These truly untouched, private wilderness camp sites are situated in the fields and meadows of the Dark Sky Preserve in the interior of the park. This area is accessible by private road, only a five minute drive from the main campground, or campers can travel by foot through our trails to access the amenities that are unique to the main campground. Amenities in the Dark Sky Preserve include picnic tables, cook stands, clean privies, a dishwashing station, and an ecoshower stall. Also located in the Dark Sky Preserve is a small children’s playground, the Baden Powell grove, and a large picnic shelter. The area is perfect for astronomy, with the darkest skies in Ontario, as well as being great for fossil hunting, and birdwatching, and offers access to a network of educational hiking trails.
Guests of Gordon’s Park are welcome to use our summer kitchen, equipped with a barbeque, 3 burner propane stove, pots, utensils, coffee maker, and toaster to make your stay more enjoyable and a little more like home.
